The railroad track anvil was way better that I thought and bigger. I did some beatin' and bangin' on it, and I did the hammer method. I definitely recommend this anvil for anyone that is looking for one. 20210601_153533.jpg 20210601_153617.jpg

For sure a good idea, but rails are so heavy, there are some old ones near my place, but I cannot move even a small one!
They put new ones and let the old ones here.
They use giant grinders to cut them.

Thats a decent looking piece of rail. You will be much happier with that than the "anvil shaped piece of iron" from Harbor Freight or other seller of junk metal.
I've got a couple 8" pieces of rail that are a lot more portable than my 129lb Hay-Budden.
