Garage Floor Coating

I wanted an epoxy floor at my last house, but the movers timing would not allow it. I finally got the floor coating at this house. I went with a professional application and am very pleased! It took three days to apply & cure.
Any spill, whether it be water, mud, antifreeze, oil or gasoline wipe up easily! This coating has a slight grit to avoid any slippery situation.

The epoxy floor certainly look nice. Note that the epoxy with the chips is not really suitable for welding and grinding. If you aren't welding and grinding, VCT (vinyl composition tile) is less than $1/sqft and looks great. Easy to clean too.

 

Most shops I have worked in were bare concrete, once you paint the floor you will have to keep doing it. No metal wheels on painted floors like floor jacks engine hoists etc it chips it. No welding Plasma cutting or torches either. A friend who owns a small airport had his maintenance shop floor ground and sealed it looks great and has held up for a few years. I'm leaving mine bare. I used the Rust-Oleum kit about 12 years ago in my two bay garage and for the most part has held up just fine. Hot tires/water has caused some lifting in one bay under the 4 tires. I placed small square rubber mats on the floor where the tires rest to help this.

 

Clean; polish; stain; seal; done.
The stain reacts with the lime in the concrete, so any filler, epoxy, exposed aggregate, etc won't take the stain.
