Hi everyone, my flexplate is toast as you can see from the photo. 3 cracks all around the center. I have seen photos of other ones , but they have different holes in them. Has anyone seen this one on a 225 and does anyone have one they would sell. It has 160 teeth and there are no numbers on it except for an X or a + sign. Does anyone know if the Rock Auto one would be a replacement for this. Thanks Craig in Vernon BC

Give us a link to the RockAuto one.

The Jeep setup is an oddball, mating an earlier Buick "nailhead" transmission to the 225. GM never used this combination, instead pairing a BOP transmission with this engine. There may be no source for a replacement flex plate for that application.

It's possible that a flex plate from an earlier Buick nailhead V8 would fit and could be balanced for the 225. Or you could switch to the BOP case transmission and use the flex plate for a passenger car.

So the tranny is the turbo 400 , so I would think they all used the same flexplate for the 225 with auto tranny. I did see 3 bolts on Ebay for this kind of flexplate but no plates for sale . Could a guy change the convertor to a 6 bolt one and buy a new 6 bolt plate

    Very unlikely.

No offense, but did you read my reply?

Do you know what the transmission case is? The TH400 came with different cases. They are not all the same. Different cases will have different dimensions.

Give us a link to the flex plate you think you can use.

I thought that Jeep would adopt the GM part numbers when they used a GM part. If this is correct, the part number for the Buick automobile flex plate should match the part number for the flex plate Jeep used. I don't have a parts book that covers your application - maybe someone here does.

Also, I suspect that GM never offered the TH400 with the 225. The TH400 was meant for big cars and trucks. The 225 was used in small cars like the Skylark and Special, which - if I had to guess - would have gotten the Powerglide.

Found this , after reading the thread.

"The Turbo 400 was introduced in 1964 in Buick and Cadillac cars and in Chevrolet and Oldsmobile cars the following year. An innovative variable pitch stator was available in the 1965-1967 cars that could essentially vary the characteristics of the torque converter.
The TH400 made its way into heavier duty GM trucks in the 1970's in 2wd and 4wd configurations. The 400 was not just a GM exclusive transmission. It is an immensely popular transmission in the automotive industry as well as the aftermarket. They are found in GM's, Jeeps, Jaguars, Rolls-Royces, Ferraris and others.
A fantastically designed and built transmission, the Turbo 400 is broadly popular for Jeep conversions. They are very servicable, buildable and their strength puts them into the top tiers of Jeep sports and performance applications."

    IMHO & other's too........The " 400 " was the most coveted auto Tranny ever produced . Simply the BEST.:schooled:
