Got my old (were terrible, should have taken photo's, rusted, etc. that came with jeep) back from the upholsterer (is that even a word???) and I really like how they turned out. The head rests are a bit floppy and need new head rest guides. Wondering if anyone has an idea what they may have been from originally so I'll have a better idea where to start looking for parts?

Van seats were popular. They aren't Ford - maybe Dodge or Chevy. Headrests weren't mandated for utility vehicles until ... 1980? Something.

They do look very nice. I'm surprised the upholstery guy didn't know where to get the guides.

Kind of what I was thinking as well, but guides are not locking, they might work however
I think it was because he used the old ones (they are there, just getting brittle from sitting outside for I don't know how many years).
Thanks all for the inputs, I'll probably just order up a few that look close an see which ones work best.

Though similar in shape, those are not 2002 seats. Among other differences, the '02 headrest has a really wide base, and the bolster shape is all wrong.
Snoops, do you have a photo of the track/underside? I see a peculiar round tube protruding from under; part of a pyrotechnic seat belt tensioner?

Good guess but nope, those were just knobs covered with heavy duty tape used for protection during media blasting. These things were fairly rusty!. Anyway, couple of pics below show what the larger know does. If the rod is in the lower position, twisting it allows the seat back to be angled forward or backward. If you pull up on the knob (disengages the "worm" gear) you can fold the seats forward like you would if these were in the front of a two door car.

Thats a pretty unique adjuster, almost certain not of American design. Someone here should recognise hat feature. Calling Ryan (ITLKSEZ) for his Volvo expertise, and Matt (Mwinks-Jeep) for his Saab expertise.

I have a 79 fiat spider. The seats aren't exact but that knob on the end of the lever looks identical. Those used a bunch of Italian parts (of course) but also some German parts here and there.

More photos might be useful i.e. the rear, better photos of the the tracks, and where the headrests attach.

Thanks jdarg, I haven't looked at Italian or much German yet, I'll give them a try. Have a couple more photos, not sure if they will help.

Doh!, forgot to post the pics!, Guide has two parts, center parts are the ones that are looking the worse for the wear.
    Thanks again IMG_0179.jpg IMG_0178.jpg IMG_0177.jpg

Seat tracks/adjusters are not Gen 1 or 2 VW.
