I have a line on a $100 winch that requires a replacement solenoid. It also needs a cable too. It is rated at 8000lbs. I just got done writing to the seller to see what the answer will be about the controller pin set up.

There was a one photo of the used winch. It does not include a second photo of the controller pin set up. This style is at least 10 years old. The newest would be 8 now.

The original (mod 0) according to the guy at Smittybuilt does not have parts support now, that is why I wrote about the controller pin set up. The setup is three pins or blades and a U SHAPED orientation BLOCK in the top of the plug for mod 0.

Gen one (mod1) has parts support from Smittybuilt. The pin configuration spins one quarter turn to LOCK.

I was reading TOYOTA guys comments ( yea, I know) at lunch today on the web showing the solenoid and all the issues that COULD be and the solutions that they had to reconstruct the solenoid for mod 0. They were the only ones talking about the winch in 2012 in their site.

No one is telling me the power requirements that I need. Especially Smittybuilt!
Smittybuilt stopped using the mod 0 type due to reported failures from users in the solenoid.

If it is a mod 0 what can I substitute for a solenoid? Got photos back from the guy today, it IS a Gen 0 and the solenoid is still toast but he has it.
