Gave my jeep it's Christmas present, A new winch rope from Custom Splice!
100' of 3/8" diamond line rates at 18,000lbs. I pulled the drum guard off the old rope for a 10' chaff guard.

Finished priming frame yesterday. Color coat today and then hopefully starting to slowly put things together next week.

Hey, how are you guys affine pics to posts? Looks like there are a lot of ways to do it over the years, and it looks like there are different ways depending on which forum you are using.
Merry Christmas to you all. Appreciate the advice over the last few months.

For posting pictures most guys use a hosting service such as https://beamingpix.com/ . You can also store a few pics here on the forum under your content\media if the mods have you set up for it, but those pics can only be put in as links, not embedded.

I'm primarily taking and posting on a mobile device so I use Flickr. It's free up to 1000 pictures and that served me well for several years just posting on here. Last year I've broke 1000 pictures and gone to the paid service which is unlimited.

I also have more stuff on the paid Google side for videos and could post pictures from there but it's limited and cost prohibitive, I feel better with Flickr anyway.

    Frame is painted![IMG]

Well, the frame may be painted, but I apparantly still do not understand technology. My photo is uploaded to Flickr, copied the URL from Flickr, clicked the photo icon at the top of the post reply box, and pasted in the URL. Any ideas?

Bonus question: What is the reason that some photos are tiny and when I click the photo I get an error that I do not have permission to access that image?

The photo icon isn't for us mortals.

Use the lower circled button to open the wizard, go to the bbcode tab select the size you want viewed then select all, copy link, paste here in the text:

Parlayed for this offset flanged 44. Needs regeared to 5.38 from 3.73, going to swap the gearing over from my tapered axle. Have a 30 spline locker to go in and a set of 11" backing plates with ebrake capability.

Friday I'm going to look at either a new or briefly used Howell FI kit. Not my first choice but price is extremely right. Thanks to Kyle and other guys here for documenting their work I'll be using a crank trigger

Finally moved the XJ to the project side of the shop yesterday. Back in 08 I scored a set of 88 axles with the D44 rear. I finally installed the rear in like 2018 with a set of 4.10's lunch box locker and alloy axles.. Now finally getting around to changing out the front axle to the matching 4.10's.. Got a little bit of work to finish the rear emergency brake cable connections and it's just some cosmetics on the interior. I'll get some pics up soon..

Hey Rich, since you sort of brought it up, is there a trick to swapping the backing plates on the flanged dana 44, or is it as simple as unbolting the bolts that attach the backing plate and pulling the axle and assembly outward? I'm asking because I have some disk brake brackets to mount, and those bolts are rusted on, so don't want to just go breaking things willy nilly.

I thought Kyle had a love/hate relationship with the Howell...I take it the crank trigger resolved the issues.

The Howell doesnt have a user friendly interface, the chip has to be mailed back for programming. My first choice was the Sniper 2gc replacement from Holley. But for $400 for an unused kit I'll take a chance. I have an even fire it could go on if I get weary of it.

I don't think it's that easy... pretty sure the bearing and retainer need pressed off, swap backing plates press on due to I'd of plate and od of retainer.

Not a big deal but replaced all the vacuum hoses on the stock heater controls and connected the wiring, etc.

I don’t think it had been run in years. Cranked it up for the first time since I’ve had it and it blew a dirt dobber nest out.

probably will never use it but that was the last thing I had on the Jeep that wasn’t working.

Flanged axle backing plates have a larger center hole. While a tight fit to get the outer seal through the backing plates should come right off while removing the axle shaft. Shouldn’t have to even unhook the brake lines to the wheel cylinder to get the axle shaft out.

Fabbed up a way to have an M38 Manual wiper on my 64 CJ5! Had to cut about an inch off one side of the wiper in order to keep it from hitting the weather seal. Cut part of a body mount to use as a spacer on the inside. Seems to work well but time will tell haha.

Added leather shifter boots and a leather gas pedal boot from Kaiserwillys.

took out the seats in order to prep/ touch up some rust spots on the floor and seat frames.

and added some upper windshield support bolts. Thanks to Keys5a for pointing the empty holes out to me! :D

I was up a little over 28 hours but managed to get some things done on the CJ5. I was pumped when that fhead busted off. :bananatool:
I sent the owner a clip of it running and his son stopped by the shop first and he told me he'd never seen his dad so excited about something before.
