This is more of what my Jeep did to me today…..

I’m preparing to replace my output seal and rebuild my emergency brake while I’m at it.

however, my Jeep is refusing to let me remove the rear driveshaft. :banghead:

I guess 50 years of being set in your ways is hard to change

If it's a greaseable area that is frozen you can pump penetrant or gear oil into the grease fittings. The nuts on the output flange can be cut or split. drill the bolts out from inside the nut until they give if you can get to them.

Having witnessed Tim's jeep hit a canopener in Colorado, I now have a thick (3/16 ish) rear cover. It's a center fill rather than low but that's ok...

Since I *might* have flat towed my jeep 200 miles without oil I wanted a sight tube. I dimpled the new cover with the old cover centermark and fluid level so now it's a matter of filling to the mark. I will make a 12ga bracket to protect the tube with some high contrast paint to easily see the level. Then i can shorten the tube to fit better. The old tube vent will get a pipe plug and the new vent will have a flexible line to safety.

Just Quik-steel and JB weld for when the fittings get smashed.

Today .... I hot wired my Belleview just to get new cable on it. It was one of the last things to do on my 2.5+ year restoration that's wrapping up. This is on a restored '74 Renegade jeep. Will never actually use the winch but I finally installed it and it just makes the front look sexy! Cables are not going to be installed...they looked bad. And just wouldn't actual work (too old). So hid them underneath the winch mount. But the incab part looks awesome with the cables. Check out my build in the sig line to see it all come together.

Anyone want to see a build on a full JL Audio, iPhone "head unit" Bluetooth, full active DSP/amp/10"sub, no holes cut system install on a '74...stealth like?

The Winch! Old school as old school can get...

Having a level indicator like that would be nice but the prospect of it getting torn off has always deterred any thought of doing that. Just one "stick" or a piece of sagebrush kicked up--------

I totally agree which is why the cover fill is higher than it should be and the tube starts as high as possible.

Glass flatty has a short list for CO prep. Time to get after it.
This thing has been running dog track due to a bent rear shackle hangar. This necessitated removing the rear crossmember and dropping the tank. The float needs tweaked anyway. When it hits e theres about 3.5gal left. Hangar fixed up.

That extra 20in length on a cj6 is good for more than just seating. ;) I built a home made tank that spans the frame rails. I gained 9 gal with it.

I continued on the wiring of the Air / Fuel gauge. Decided to neaten up under the hood . Was starting to look like a Spaghetti factory from all of the previous gauge & heated O2 sensor installs . It takes time......but it's satisfying .
