Hate is the word I use to describe those Wilwood reservoirs.

He's about a half hour from a bunch o' salt mines
It puts McDonald's to shame. You can expect 3years before the rust is visible and you are lucky to get 10 years before it is thru something major.
Suspension components will rust together so an alignment involves new adjusters.

An accessory for the 3b. Stihl 041AV 61 cc
Runs great and starts surprisingly easy for a Stihl. :p Has a 16" sprocket nose bar and no chain brake. These are torquey saws and it could run a larger bar no problem but it will be fine for clearing brush with the one on it. If I find an 041 super cylinder and piston I could bump it up to 72 cc. :sneak:

Walk through the pits at your local short track. 95% of those reservoirs seep.
CNC brakes made a really high quality remote reservoir setup, but they recently went out of business.

    Ok hear me out.
The OD of the sealing area ( journal?) Is shown on my micrometer as 2.65 and change. A spare short block on the floor is identical in diameter. The FelPro seals are indicated as an ID of 2.630 accommodating 2.630-2.632. Internet boards are rife with 3.8 rear 2 piece leakage issues ( skulked many a GN board)
My theory is the seal is being distorted. There's not a lot of compressibility in the rubber seal lip. Does FelPro assume the seal surface has been machined / polished to under factory dia ?
Counterintuitive as it may seem I'm seriously considering trying to sneaky Pete a more forgiving rope seal in....

I can't find online what the od spec for the sealing surface of the crank should be.

Edited: the silicone seal gets better reviews than the viton or rubber seals. Wondering if the material is softer/ pliable as the rubber is fairly hard.

Interesting discovery on the seal dia. vs. actual.

I say give the rope seal a try, at this point what do you have to lose? That style has worked for decades in other engines.

I've used a rope seal, and they're ok. I've never tried to put one in place with the crank in the block.
    Hope it works for ya.

Grant, it was on the jeep when I bought it, I just had to overhaul it and make it prettier;) But a screen correct winch for the jurassic jeep is a 1000bucks.

This is what it looked like when I got it:(actually doesn't look all that bad does it! lol

Rear hatch painted. I thought doing this hardtop was going to be easier. Between the headliner, seals(a lot of them) , luggage rack, rear hatch mechanics and sliding window rebuild it turned into more of a job than I thought.

New seats and seat belts are done, and I mounted and wired in a 12V plug and some USB phone charging ports. Funny to think that USB was science fiction when my Jeep rolled off the assembly line, now they are ubiquitous. I also used parts of an old gopro mount and made up a GPS mount (more science fiction, haha).
For some reason I only have an option of loading pics from ‘my media’ right now.
