Can't measure one of the old ones? Or are you trying to match the length of what you have to the listed length?

You're sure the year of the engine is 1973? IIRC the rocker design changed in the 1973 era ... it might help to describe the rockers and bridges that you have. I'll dig out the books when I get home.

The guys at IFSJA or the AMC forum might know about this.

still running the old ones . i have no reason to think its not a 73 still has the tag on the valve cover came out of a 73. havent seen the rockers yet. the fsm for 74 lists 7.79 to7.81 as stock. i drive it daily and would like to have parts on hand before tearing in to them. i can get tag dates if that helps, thanks.

My book shows only one PN for V8s from '74 on, 3214014. My other book shows a TRW PN 48015 or 48829, but no length.

I would not worry about availability. When you assemble the engine, you can measure the valve train lash and get the right length. Lots of info on the net about this.
