Man those are tough bikes, easy to start and simple to work on too. I had a 75 DT 250. That thing never gave any trouble. Rode it 5 years daily at full throttle every where I went. Wore out 3 sets of tires and 5-6 sets of sprockets and chains. never put a wrench on the motor or trans the whole time except to change a spark plug once in a while. You have a good bike.

It actually doesn’t leak a drop, surprisingly. I brought it home in the back of my car, and the crankcase oil leaked out of the vent into the side case that’s open to drain. It cleaned itself out for a few days, but now it’s done.

Traded a 2011 tiguan for this 67 mg lots of work ahead but I think I want to keep it an oily rag restoration its too good to mess with and I think it looks great. Plus its a whole lot easier. But the engine needs to be put back together and I dont know how anything came apart or where any of the bolts are.

Bought this 97 TJ 2.5/5 spd last Friday. I've wanted one for quite some time and it was *cheap* and it has a clean title (I like the purple too). It drives~kinda, all the suspension bushings need to be replaced and it could use a tune up. I figured since I have two other Jeep projects why not add a 3rd to the mix?:lol:
I want to make it more driveable and some sort of trail worthy. The rear axle is more or less shot, and the wheel bearings and pinion bearings are completely gone. I didn't see any D44s for sale locally so I've been looking at doing a "Super" D35. I plan to run no bigger than a 33-35" tire and currently, it has 32" tires and someone has already lifted it, added sway bar disconnects, and adjustable shocks.

A lot of folks like putting Ford Explorer or Ranger 8.8s in the back too.

Working on this Thing for somebody. He had it at somebodys shop for 2.5 years putting floors in it and only got maybe 1/4 of it done. Iv had it less than 2 weeks and Iv got the floors done and now im working on all the other rust spots on the body and doors and hood. And thats in between 50 other projects that come and go every day. Anyway im sure he will be glad to have his car back. He was sad that it was away for so long and didnt get to enjoy it with his son who is now away at college. I gave him a hard time about not fixing it up With his son. He said he tried to get one thing a year done on it I said you should be doing one thing a day! lol

There's a build thread dedicated to this, although I haven't touched it in months. Hoping to get the grease fittings freed on the winch soon and try to get the cable to release. Whenever I reorganize my storage unit I'll pull then engine to inspect it/reseal it/get it ready to try turning over.

Sweet! What's he gonna do with it?

I've been dreaming of eventually doing something just like that and throwing a flatbed on it to use as a car-hauler for my future projects. No fancy paint, no fancy suspension, just cool old truck, new engine and trans, and everything else stock.

His plan is to rebuild the old flatbed. His son has an old John Deere tractor, so his (son’s) idea is to haul the tractor to car shows around the area. I think they’ll just leave it on the truck.

He has a dually rear axle fr a Dodge truck to put under it.

X2 for the 8.8 in the rear.
I have installed 8.8’s in a YJ and an XJ with great success.
You can get weld on bracket kits for the coils and control arms.
