How do I test the generator

    How do I test the generator out of the jeep? I know it works because it worked in the jeep before i put in an alternator. but I only get 1.5v and no amps out of it spinning it by drill. Not sure what it is there is no tag. one terminal marked S and one F and a ground. I tested between the terminals and tried each to ground. spinning both ways. I dont know what else to do. Does it need a battery in the loop?

    You'll need to apply a ground connection to the field coil but I doubt you can spin it fast enough with a drill to get it up to operating speed.

    Do you have a factory service manual? If not look at these-

    ok that makes sence. yeah iv got like 3 of them manuals and I always forget I have them lol
