[cj5] disc conversion trouble : low pressure behind

    In Europe steel brake lines are reqired to be plated with copper insude & out for corrosion resistance, is this what you have Greg or are they actually "pure" copper?

    The Cunifer or Nicopp lines have a color very similar to copper too, but they are a Nickel-Copper-Iron alloy that is a premium choice for brake lines.

    I agree, pure copper for brake lines would be a mistake, and dangerous.

    Copper will work harden and fail ... it's just a matter of how much time and how many stress cycles. Iron/steel and titanium are different in this respect - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatigue_limit

    hallo

    ok , like it s "copper" for brake line (sold by professionnal for dailly and race car ) , i think we have nicopp . you work on it like copper . same color (in and out) and same frame , it s why we say copper to simplify , i suppose.

    I did a conversion on my 1956 using the stock MC. I used different calipers (same size front and rear though) and rotors but did have an issue that may or may not relate. With all 4 wheels off the ground, engine running and in gear I would apply brakes and all 4 wheels would stop. When I released the pedal the calipers would only partially release. I could spin the wheels by hand but it was very hard. I had to go into the MC and remove a screen on the piston. I've read that its there to prevent fluid from returning too quickly. The calipers fully release now and have been working fine for around 15 yrs. I recently had to do an emergency stop on dry pavement and the fronts locked up first much like yours.

    Prior to installing my 4-wheels discs I had a hydro-vac unti installed inline also. It worked wonders on the drum brakes and would still be using it if I still had drums. I took it off when I switched to discs and my Jeep stops on a dime.

    with my eyes: no mechanical part , i can see the light threw it . it looks like a junction beetween the lines : it s beetween master cylinder and the lines going to the wheels .

    the mc has two chamber , i don t use one by putting a plug on the line . i use only to "feed" the hydrovac
