Due to packaging/space constraints I'm considering mounting my power steering cooler partially or completely above the level of my pump/reservoir.

Will this work or will I have problems with the fluid from the cooler draining into and over filling the reservoir? The jeep usually sits for weeks/months between uses.

    hmmmmm
I just mounted mine(a tank type) in the thumbs down position like the drawing. that is the way it was installed from the factory on the ford van I took it off of . and I don't quiet understand how air is going to get in there when it is a return system oil would push all air out,,it would burp air out in the tank and refill the void with oil .

Sucking air from a small leak on the intake side of the gear or pressure side on the pump??? could be a line or O-ring at the gear?

I've mounted mine on one of my Jeeps with the inlet/outlet at the top and it works fine w/ no air in the system. That particular Jeep has a hydraulic winch in the setup too so if there were issues I'd know right away on a heavy pull.
