Were the trans cover bolt in floor boards on all early CJ's painted black from the factory?
The ones I have from civilian Jeeps were.

Welded up some this weekend repaired the rust holes, and think they may look better painted the body color.

    Thanks,

    Dave

No. I recall the transmission cover is black, and the rest of the floor plates were body color.

Thanks, I thought I've seen more of the trans covers black. One of the bigger bolt in covers was painted black though.

    Thanks,

    Dave

I have a book with republished review articles and pictures of a 1961, 1966 and my 1970 (Oct69 bld) CJ5s and they all had black on the removable parts of the floor.

Looks like mine were black at one time. See both ways at shows and such. I'll see how they look black, semi gloss or satin. Thanks,

    Dave
