Aluminum doors- what do they fit?

At last week's 4x4 swap meet, I picked up a couple of doors. I can post pics once I get them downloaded, but I think I can describe them pretty quickly.

Aluminum, sliding glass, simple 1/4 turn lockable door handles. Very good construction, double walls for the whole of the door (except of course in the glass area). Held to the body by 4 bolts and hangs, from the cowling only, between fender and door opening (no windshield frame mount point as with Meyers top doors). Utilizes a piano hinge and the hinge contains a vertical rain gutter that neatly nests into the door recess.

I got them 1. for my project and 2. at 20 bucks for the pair, I couldn't go wrong. I thought they would fit a CJ5/M38A1, but when I put them up against the door opening on my A1, they were- top to bottom- too short. They missed the lower door sill by about 4 inches.

Now, the leading edge of the doors- the part going up against the windshield frame was perfect- fit the windshield angle like a glove, and was the right width at the door handle where it latches to the body. But it was wrong on the curvature of just about the whole door sill from latch to lower corner.

It wasn't intended for the A1 and since I will be building the door sill on the project jeep, I'll build it to fit the door. So there's no problem there.

The question is, what did this originally fit? The only thing I can think of is that maybe the post '75 CJ5s had a different depth and curvature on the door sill than the pre '76 and this is for a later 5.

I compared it to a friend's CJ3A- no way is it intended for a flatfender.

If both earlier and later 5s all had the same dimensions on the door, I'm at a loss to think of any other rig this would fit.
