Hey John, my son is now a full fledged Paratrooper and in the a Recon Surveillance Target Acquisition Cav unit MD USANG. He loves it and it seems to be a Hooah outfit, lots of SF and Ranger Tabs, CIB's, USMC Recon, Navy Seals and PJ's. I hope they teach him a lot. Did you go Elk hunting this year? My CJ5 is SLOWLY coming along and I am about to do the steering conversion. I found a tilt column out of a CJ7, and I hope that I can use instead of the original column. In looking at the steering box you sent me, I am dumbfounded as to how you had it mounted. I think you sent me some pics but can't find them for the lfe of me. I believe you had it mounted to the frame in front of the cross member (I am running the F-Head), but the brackets it came with don't seem to line up any wheree on my frame for the correct inline angle. Any idea as to what I mean and any suggestions or pics you might have of when it was installed on your Jeep?

      Thanks,

      Dan

      John,

I hadn't seen this message until now. I have been out of the country a lot the past few months. Yeah, my kid is bound for Ft. Benning for OUST next MAy, although he's drilling with his unit already. They have him slotted for Abn school some time next year, but he doesn't graduate until May of 2011 (he's just a junior in HS). You didn't pull an Elk tag this year? That's a major bummer I'll bet. I'll check out your facebook page. I have one but it's lame. I set it up primarily to check in on my nieces and nephews while they're in college. I haven't started on the steering swap yet, whe I do I'll have to PM you to get some pointers. I believe that I will have to swap out my steering column (ross set up) for one from the '70's?

Just saw your latest posting for your Jeep. Dang that looks sweet. I am very impressed with your fabirication skills. Awesome build and grat pics. My son is enlisting tomorrow in the MD Nat'l Guard for SF. He's 17 and a junior in HS. He's a great kid, Eagle Scout, a LTC in the Civil Air Patrol and a competitive shooter. He'll ship for OSUT at Benning next summer and then finish his senior year. He is hoping for an ROTC scholarship when he graduates. Are you doing any Elk hunting this fall?
