Seperating a T-14 from a D-20

I have the transmission & transfercase out of the vehicle and I am trying to seperate the two. The factory service manual is missing 2 pages (page 232 & 233) that covers this process although in other areas of the manual it implies that all that needs to be done is to remove the 5 bolts connecting the two cases and pull the transfer case back to remove from the transmission. I am not having luck...I can only get it apart slightly. I have wiggled, pulled and carefully pryed with two prybars. Is there something I am missing? I am aprehensive to pry any harder for fear of damaging somthing inside or damaging the surfaces of the two cases.
When I did this procedure on my T-86 trans & D-18 xfer case it was required to pull the bull gear from the tranny mainshaft first. Does that need to be done on the T-14 & D-20 setup?

Remove 5 bolts and remove transfer case. The transfer case input gear just barely fits through the hole in the transfer case so if it is not real straight the case will bind on the gear.
Your T-86 does not require the gear to be removed either unless someone changed something. From the factory they also used a large hole transfer case.

Okay, i'll try again. Just knowing that it is supposed to come apart without removing additional parts/fasteners helps alot. I'll call this plan "A"
Is there a plan "B" if plan"A" doesnt work easily?

Make sure the gear isn't hanging up on the gasket also. Once oilsoaked and compresses the gasket is surprisingly tough to tear.
Not really a plan b. Should come off.

 

Actually Plan B would be to place your foot directly below the TC then look away, it should then come off on it's own, instantly crashing onto your foot.

Wow your tranny and T-case are really clean I will be trying this maybe this winter so this was a big help.

 

At least you didn't have to resort to Plan B or Plan C ->->-> chainsawguy.
