Ive had that same problem with that particular points set design. Plastic and rivets do not seem to last very long. Looks like your new set is metal to metal, should last a lot longer.

ok why don't you go to a electronic version of points. replace em with a Pertonix'a electronic points, look for a Ignitor system. about $100
I am going to put one in my 66 once I get the trans done.

I also have one in my 62 ford f-100 in-line 6 223. if made it run better, I got 3 more miles to the gallon and seems to have more power. took 30 minutes to install. check em out, what they advertize is right and it worked for me now for a bout 2 years. when I dropped in the componets into my ditributor I haven't touched tehm since and I have never regretted it.

I went to the pertronix site and am confused over which "Ignitor" model to go with. The specific application seems to depend upon the distributor used (Prestolite, Delco, Autolite) but I can find no markings on mine to tell me what I've got.

A vendor advertises the Pertronix 1144A for use with my 1962 CJ5. Does anyone know if that is the correct part number or can you furnish the right one?

    Thanks!

Call Pertronix directly, and have the distributor in front of you when you call.
