Does anyone know what this bracket it for? Bracket is bolted to the top of the intake on the driver's side. Maybe something for the original air cleaner?

    66 CJ5, 225 V6

In the process of rebuilding the engine and more questions to follow. Thanks,

That is not stock as I see it. Looks like it could have been added to stabilize a throttle cable for an add-on winch or the like. Throttle cable was not factory either on the 66.

Throttle cable bracket! thats my guess. my throttle bracket is in that same location,, looks like someone made one intead of buying one. mine is actually bolted to the carb mount bolt hole just under the green arrow in your photo and faces the drivers fender.

Maybe a bracket for the dashpot installed to prevent stalling by returning to idle slowly, or the anti-dieseling valve that was often dealer-installed to cure the run-on condition that was common in the V6 when shutting down...
should be some pics of that around somewhere...

Search this forum for "dashpot"... lots of interesting threads there, some with pics that may help identify your bracket.

    Thanks for the responses.

I don't think it was for a dashpot. It's not close enough to the carb linkage. I'm not sure it was for anything factory as it has a 4bbl aluminum manifold and a Holley 2bbl on an adapter plate. Maybe it was for a hand throttle. It had one on it when I got it but I took it off because it was broke and I've never replaced it. Whatever it was for its not going back on after the rebuild.

If anyone needs any pics of the internals of the 225 just ask. Right now the block is back from the machine shop and I'm going to start putting it back together this weekend.
