Does a '63 DJ3A have the same full-floating, Dana 23-2 rear axle as the WWII army Jeeps and early CJ2A's had?

    Thanks.

Hmmmmmmmm, interesting. I've found mention of 23's being used in them. My reason for asking was simply wondering if you can get parts for it, which is true with both the model 23 and 41, right?

I've run into some that had the 23-2 but were 4 lug wheel bolt pattern instead of 5. Not sure if all are. I know at least some FJ-3a's were also as we had a customer that had one and we had a heckuva time finding brake drums for them.

From what I've read they all had 4-lug wheels, or it was at least common. I should have it home by this coming weekend, and I'll look at everything closer after that.

The '48-'49 CJ's had Dana 41's. Maybe even through '54.

For that matter, is there a good reason why they put the Go-Devil and T-96 in them? AFAIK, the whole power train was older components than what was being used in the CJ's of that era.

I'm sure it was all in order to maximize profits when meeting the governments contract guidelines. It also kept parts more standardized for a longer period of time.

Like the saying goes, a car manufacturer MAKES money by BUILDING cars, and that drives eveything.
