Hello: I am new here and would like to say hi to all. I am in need of a set of heads I can rebuild for the 225 V6. Both of my heads are cracked in the crossover port and are leaking water and all the heads I have found around here are cracked in the same place. Has anyone had any luck welding these heads, seems they are about as scarce as hens teeth. Thanks in advance for any help or advice.

    First, Welcome!
Whether they can welded depends on where the crack is and the extent of the crack. Lots of variable there. A good engine machine shop should be able to inspect them and tell you if they can be welded or not.

Also, may put an ad in the classifieds section. I may know where some core heads are in the Portland, OR area are but would have to check.

    welcome....

Like nickmil suggested... try posting in the classified section. You can sometimes find the entire Dauntless engine for not too much coin. Or a member may have a spare they are willing to part out.

    Good Luck

Hey Guys, thanks for the replys I will post an add and see what comes up. I did a quick look on ebay and they had a couple of engines posted there but no heads. I quess my main fear is if I buy an engine the heads might be cracked and I would not gain much. Portland OR is not too far away, this sounds very interesting. Thanks again.

Just a comment - generally it's more expensive to fix cracks in heads or blocks than to find another good core ... for most engines. If you have a rare motor that's valuable because it's part of an exotic car, then crack repair might be justified.

Realize that you can substitute a compete 231 V6 from a RWD Buick for the Jeep 225 ... it will mostly drop in. Lots of these Jeeps have 231s in them because the cars have been a cheap source of replacement engines. Just an option to keep in mind during your search.

Im assuming by that statement that the 231 heads are not the same as the 225?
