Has anyone tried 00 grease for their steering knuckles
or gear boxes? I have a small leak and have though
about useing it. It looks as just thick oil
    Thanks Bob

    Bob,
I have used an NLGI #2 in gearboxes on brush hog mowers and it works much better than 85w gear oil. But in steering knuckles or JEEP gearboxes no I have not. 00 grease is very thin so maybe it would work. We used some in our machines at work in the winter and it was still like an NLGI #1 grease and was a bit too thin on the higher temp apps. The leak problem is why we would use it (NLGI #2) in the mowers so if it would leak with oil it wouldn't with grease. We had good luck with L-427 grease. Hope this helps a little.
