Just broke the dipstick on my Dauntless. Do the 231/3.8 dipsticks interchange? TIA.

I robbed a dipstick off a 3.8 pontiac van in the junkyard after I lost mine. I had to cut it way down and lightly trim the plastic so that it slid into the hole. Did an oil change, filled with three quarts, marked the stick, put in a fourth, marked the stick. Drilled a pair of 1/16" holes to show full and one quart low.

I'd love to find the correct stick for it though, I can't find one though.

I'll take a look at home. I have a 225 sitting in my garage that some P.O. had left the oil pan off of for 3+ years. Some parts were missing too, so I will watch for it when I get home.

Hmmmm. I thought it held 4 quarts plus the filter (4.5 to 4.75 depending on what filter you installed).

At least that's what it held according to the original dipstick before I lost it (my bad).

So I looked at my 225 a couple days ago. It had the tube, but the dipstick was missing.:(
