Long story short, trying to bring 79 CJ7 back to daily driver status. Been sitting in the barn with an occasional drive, waiting for a front-end rebuild. This jeep was all over the road. No fun to drive and dangerous:(. As part of the project, I needed to replace the 31x10.5x15 Goodyear Wrangler tires that had been on there since the early 90s. Lots of tread, but badly weather cracked. This jeep is #2 in the restore line (behind a 49 CJ3a), so I couldn't spend a bundle on tires.

After much local searching and research here and elsewhere settled on Walmarts Goodyear branded Authority. Reviews seemed either 100% good or bad, but they were within my budget and I'm not going to do a great deal of off road or high-speed highway driving.

So to avoid the hassles, I took the wheels off the jeep yesterday and dropped them off at the local store. Picked them up a couple of hours later and put them on the jeep. Went for a test drive and could not believe it. Up to 55 anyway, all the play is gone from the front end! I still need to replace a lot there, but this was just amazing. I've gone from being afraid to drive this jeep to can't wait for another chance to drive it.:)

I just went through the same thing. Took off the antique 33's and put on a set of used 32's (in very good shape) and it's like a whole new Jeep. Pleasure to drive!
