E-Brake Cable Length

    I have a '75 cj-5 and the front e-brake cable is 68" long. It seams to be about 4" to long. The new replacement cable #16730.04 is also 68". Question: Can someone measure their 75 cj-5 front cable and let me know the length? Maybe mine is a '74 cable or something. Thanks

    I just measured my '74 and it is 68", tip to tip.

    The parts book has the 74 and 75 with the same part number. The 76 is different. Although that is OEM part numbers...with a small difference in length the new part suppliers probably provide one length for Intermediate and 76+ CJ5's.

    The 74/75 OEM part is 999978; 76 is 5355287

    I wonder why when I install this cable that it seems a few inches to long. thanks for the info. and measuring your cable. Mine measures the same length, 86". Something else must be going on that I just have not figured out yet.
