I am putting a '68 windshield frame on a 52 M38A1. I have all of the wiper components except for motor and washer parts. I've looked at purchasing the motor but have questions that I'm hoping some of you can help answer.

Looking at pictures the motor for a 68-75 looks the same as the motors for a 76-83 (3 wire plug) and the 83-86 (4 wire plug). My questions begin with- do they all mount in the same holes and connect to the wiper linkage the same or is the motor for the 68-75 the only one that will fit my windshield frame?

If I can mount the 76-83 motor, does it offer any advantages to the earlier motor?

At some point I will have to install a washer motor and nozzles. Does anyone know of a source for washer nozzles? I'm not really needing stock nozzles, just something other than the really cheap plastic ones that I have seen.
I'd like to be able to drill a hole or two and snap some good nozzles in and run the washer tube to them.

Any and all help will be appreciated.

Both of these questions have been answered in old posts if you search.

According to Boyink, the 68-75 motor is only different from the 76-83 motor in the bracket that comes off the end of the motor. A new hole can be drilled in the windshield frame for the newer bracket location. I have confirmed that the wiring is the same. I have ordered a 76-83 replacement motor based on this advice, but I cannot show you a comparison yet because the new motor has not arrived. Look at the pictures on the Omix-Ada site (the source for all these motors) and you'll see the difference.

There was a recent post about using a washer nozzle from a Mini. Search.

The wiring is the same on the motor but the plugs/terminals are different. Easy enough to fix.
IIRC there is one mounting hole for the motor that doesn't quite line up or is missing. Do a search on this as I think it was Boyink that addressed this. The advantage to using the later motor is they are much more available and generally less expensive.

I had found washer nozzles on some of the older/classic vehicles at my local salvage yards. If your junk yards haven't cleaned them out for the steel shortage a year or so back you might have a chance there. As an added bonus I usually only paid like a buck or so, except for when the friendly sales person told me that I can have them for nothing.

    Just another avenue to explore.

Thanks guys. By searching I found Mike Boyink's notes on the wiper motor mounting differences. I'll get a motor, switch, and nozzles ordered up and get to installing them.
