Anyone ever transplant a diesel engine into a flat fender? I've checked every forum I can find on the net and haven't found anyone who did. It needs to be a turbocharged 4 cylinder of at least 100 hp. and weigh no more than a small block Chevy. I'd like to find one before I tear into the Oddfire 225 I have on the engine stand..... Thanks Todd

See the below links. I can't seem to find the one with the VW diesel. You have many choices. From Cummins, Isuzu, VW, and GM to name a few of the more popular.

Overland Diesel has done some Jeeps.

Look over at the 4btswaps forum, there are quite a few Jeep diesel conversions.

I used a GM 6.2 in my Grand Cherokee conversion.

IMHO a VW turbo diesel would be a good fit for a Jeep CJ, but for parts availability and ease of conversion the 6.2 and 6.5 would be good choices, engine mounts and transmissions are the same/similar as other Chevy parts, but the engine weighs about 200 pounds more than a small block. Another option would be the Isuzu that was used in the S10 & Isuzu small pick up trucks.
