oh and im also in in the process of changing the water pump and rebuilding the carb it had some studdering on acceleration and wouldnt start without gas down the carb. And the waterpump was leaking out the weep hole. I broke a bolt off on the carb manifold and one on the water pump but was able to drill and tap them easily. It was the long ones that go back to the block i was worried about but they managed to stay intact

The last few days iv been messing with the motor trying to get it to run right. It backfires like mad now and runs real rough. Probrobly the carb i cant imagine anything else broke in the short while since it was kinda working well. I had troubles getting the top fitted. When i intially mounted it i had to push the widhield forward like a half inch i figured it wasnt a big deal. Well when i tried to fit the door the problem became very obvious. So i pushed the whole thing back to make the doors fit. then it suck over the back of the tub a bit. So i cut the corner welds on the bottom back and kinda rolled the corners in and got it all lookin good. Now theres a problem with the back hatch the opening is too small. so iv got to drill out the spot welds and make it skinnier. i figure its the easiest way about it and have it look good. plus i didnt fix up the back hatch yet. I think i jinxed myself because i was just thinking that was the only piece i didnt have to do any metalwork to right before i measured it . But its gettin done slowly but surely

I got the radio in its a blaupunkt acd2800 from an old audi it seems to work nicely and it looks good too i hung it under the dash infront of the shifter.
Iv spent the past two days afterwork building these brackets for my quad skates to run a single wheel out back. Seems to work pretty well but it will take a little getting usto to get good push and speed. also my tracked 2x2 is coming along slowly

Yea it came out really profesional. My hopes were that it would help deaden the sound because as i guessed the metal top is really loud. I hope it quiets down in there with all the seats and carpet in or ill have to put a regular muffler on it. From the little bit i ran it resonates alot

got my carb back finally. Carburator usa in NJ does a nice job but plan on waiting 2 months or so in the busy season . Runs pretty good but still has problems. Smokes black smoke im thinking too rich but i have to run the screws in to about 1/2 turn to get it to not smoke does that sound ok?
Also took it up the road a few times had major vibes and crazy noises going on. The rear axle seemed tipped up too much so i pulled the shims out and its much better. The shims were in there before so i stuck them back in when i dedid the springs. Guess its a bit different.
Heres some pics of stuff i didnt show yet. I dont think my garage has been this messy EVER

Just found this thread, wow, that is the most insane thing I have ever seen! You are a restoration master! Holy S*@%..... I kept wondering where you guys were finding all of these old rusted out monsters and how you were insane for buying them...but I guess you got the skills to pay the billls on the whole Dr. Frankenstein thing...Mine was either just kept in good condition or someone did what you did...but great job man that's awesome!

Its been a while but i did some work to it recently. A few weeks ago i finally got the temp guage working. I swaped it out with a spare i had. It took a little bit to figure out how to hook up the wires because i didnt have the jumper on the old one and forgot how things went. So i got that working. Still had the jumper on my messy workbench lol. But then the fuel guage didnt work i guess it draws some its power and throws off the reading so i figured it was probrobly the float level in the tank. So i got that all fixed.

Then i found some hub caps at a flea market and had the itch to put them on. But my back wheels wernt factory so they didnt fit. So i figured id wait till i found some at the junk yard. Well it didnt take long i found some right away. I had to cut out the centers to fit the front ones over the hubs but i figured they wernt the particularly valuable kind so i hacked them out.

Next i was going to put a sway bar on the back that i got from a golf cart but after lookin at it I figured i already had to put a traction bar on to stop the axle wrap and now ill have a sway bar and itll still be bottoming out with my passengers. So i remembered that jeep at the junk yard that i got the wheels from still had its original 9 leaf springs so i went back and got those and put them on. Eliminating the sway bar and trac bar and it rides like its suposed to now. Also i sold my plow setup yesterday so i guess i wont be using that again. Got 130$ for it
What do you think of the caps? I think it wasnt a huge improvement but they look good.
