Not really worried about any of this, but here are a few things that I am pondering on my 61 cj

1)I assume that all cjs are pretty noisy as far as the drive train goes, but mine is very quiet sitting at idle and climbing up hill, but the drivetrain makes a pretty good rattling in 3rd, not at full throttle, but in some of the intermediate throttling. I plan on making sure everything is fully greased, but is this pretty average rattling or something that I sure worry about?

2)When I am turning left when moving fairly slow(like parking), there is a loud click when I first turn...

3)Driving the other day, and car was pretty warm, as well as the carburetor and in 3rd going about 35 the car hesitated quite a bit and wouldn't go for a second, I pulled over and adjusted the richness of the carb from about 1.5 turns out to .5 turns out(solex carb) and it drove fine...

Anyone want to point me in some direction for troubleshooting as I get time?

Do you have a fuel pressure regulator? I hear the solex carb is sensitive to fuel pressure.

Rattling to me sounds like something loose in the drive train.
But if it's a "whine" in 3rd gear when you don't have a load on it... it might be a worn intermediate shaft in the transfer case. I assume you have a Dana 18 transfer case.

Either way you shouldn't have "rattling" anywhere normally except if you have maybe a floorpan loose or a fender loose or something like that. Every other rattle is a problem you need to find sooner rather than at an in-opportune time.

Double check the hubs and make sure they are completly unlocked. That will cause a sometimes clunk.

was having a similar problem and got looking into it....do you have the clutch, cable, chain set up? I found the cable/chain was slacking and slapping the bottom of the tub...but nothing serious...
