Can anyone tell me where I can find the little bracket which attaches the end of the steering column to the firewall found in this pic? Please don't tell me I have to buy this Jeep to get the part I'm looking for either! :D

I wish I could afford that Jeep!

    Thanks

If thats a Jeep part, try http://www.jwjeep.com/ The Jeep engine compartment looks pretty sweet, but why would you go to all that work and then put in an unpainted radiator?

mruta: Not sure what year the Jeep is that you're looking at.....BUT....if it is 76 and later the bracket is as follows: J3196870 upper and J3196897 lower....NOW if it is 72-75 then it will be J0999559 upper and J 5351247 lower. Good Luck!! Glenn

I would just pay the money and get a flaming river ujoint end. they have nice couplers, you can get the whole kit and cabootle there, kind of $$ but sure is nice quality parts.

    i think it was flamingriver.com

Glenn, thanks for the part numbers! Dan, I've already got the u joint and you're right, flaming river does have nice stuff. I just wish I could afford it! I'd love to have a brand new tilt steering column in there too!

Mruta: I just "bit the bullit" and had a new Flaming River tilt shaft installed. Gerry, my Hot Rod Builder friend, put it in thinking that I would not be happy with a new GM tilt which is what I had. We origonally contracted for a new GM tilt, but I'm glad he did it. Cost about 45-50 bucks more, won't wear out in the tilt, and uses GM turn signal mechanisms (can get at any FLAPS).

He also used a Flaming River neddle bearing joint at the top and a Borgeson on the bottom (looks the same as FR but not as polished as much).

Sometimes it's better to "blow your wad" and get the best. :)
