Hey gang ! Love this site, and missed it while it was down.

I have a '67 CJ5, dauntless 225 - V6. However I puzzled by the transfer case. The shifters in the jeep number 3....not 2. Most 4X4's I have had in the past have had 2. 1- to change from high and low, and 1 to lock into 4 wheel vs 2 wheel. HELP !! Someone has told me , the extra shifter lock the front in seperately, or independantly. Is this true? Also, is this a stadard for the '67? Any help or comment would be nice, thanks.

One lever is hi range /low range

    One lever is 2wd/4wd.

Unless the transfer case has been modified, there is an interlock to prevent 2wd/Low range. Some people remove this to allow 2wd Low, which is handy in certain cases.

The 67 w/225 should be a single lever t/c. (located on the passenger side of the transmission "hump") The trans lever should come from the middle of the "hump" (T-86). and if it had an overdrive added it would be just to the right of the trans lever. (Warn)(OD lever will be slightly shorter than the trans). Also, with the single lever T/C: All the way forward is 2W/D, First notch out is 4W/D High Range, Second notch is Neutral, and the Third notch is 4W/D Low Range. Check and see if this is what you have. Good Luck!! Glenn

    It's not uncommon for a '67.

Do 2 of those shifters share the same hole in the floor, or are all 3 separated by a few inches?

This is one of the features that stops other people from driving your car, they get in, see 3 pedals, 4 levers, and a thing called choke on the dash.

In mine, I have obviously the shifter, then I have 2wd / 4wd, hi / lo, and overdrive / regular. I'm guessing you have the same setup. (I'm not sure if the order I gave is correct though)
