I have started changing over to 11" brakes on my 1971 D44 flanged axle. I thought that I could grab some backing plates off any Wagonner D44 and put on CJ 11" drums. Guess not.
The CJ drums are not deep enough. I guess Wagoneer drums are deeper.
Anybody know what drums will fit this oddball setup?

cvlv2: use the backing plates and drums from the wagoneer (mid 1966 and up w/5 lug pattern) (self adjusting brakes). This is a "Bolt On" installation. Good Luck!! Glenn

Thanks! That helps confirm some of the reading I've been doing also. Looks like from what I've gathered the early waggies were 5 bolt from 66 - 73. I'll try and come up with a set of early drums. Only question left then is ... I think my backing plates came from a later model than that (It had six lug axles). Anyone know if the drums are all the same with the exception of bolt count?

You were right. I returned the drums to the parts store, and now I have to start my search for backing plates all over again.

Yup, R&P. 503-557-8911. I think the price is a little cheaper than that unless you want the parking brake in the wheels. Check with Paul to confirm that though. Nickmil.

I am going to be doing this same upgrade on the front and rears of my '68. $275 for the front, $300 for the rear with the E. brake. Is this a pretty easy upgrade? From the posts and other info, says it is pretty much bolt on.
