i pulled the t-case for an intermidiate shaft rebuild, decided to pull the trans and clutch for seals and gaskits...

i'm not sure on the condition of my clutch one pressure plate finger has an adjusting screw that looks like it worked out but over all it looks decent to me and i don't want to pull the pressure plate unless it is highly recomended and i wondered if a good measurement between the flywheel and pressure plate would indecate the amount of wear:?

my e-brake lever's pivet appears to have broken the speedometer housing, any ideas on that?

my transmission seems to be fine except for seals and gaskits

Conventional wisdom says, if you are in there and you don't know the history of the parts, put in a clutch kit. If the cover looks ok and money is tight, you might refresh the disk, lube the pilot bushing, and replace the throw-out bearing. Be sure to replace the TO bearing, regardless.

like everyone else, money is tight. it had been leaking oil out of the transmission input, and with the finger out of adjustment i worry about the flywheel and pressureplate being worn less on that side?

would you drill & tap the e-brake then use a threadded stud?

Replace the clutch and pressure plate etc. will be cheap insurance in the long run.

The e-brake stud was broken on mine when I bought it a few years ago. I counterbored and put a screw in it from the x-fer case side. It just so happens I am currently rebuilding the engine and I am going through the trans and xfer case too. This made it real easy to take a picture, so here you go....

i always pull off the pressure plate and inspect the clutch. if its still got meat and wears evenly use it. i rough up the metal surcaces with sandpaper or die grinder. Check if the pilot bushing is tight on the tranny and in its hole. and thats it

excellent repair job on the piviot for the e-brake. On my D-18 the piviot bolt was a little loose, so I knerled the bolt and repressed it in place. If it gets loose again and falls out, from your example I have an idea as to how to do a better repair. Thanks--

so the jeep is at the girlfriends parents so i can work on it, i can't work on it at schoolR).. her dad helps if its nice out (he has a 66:v6:).
anyway it got nice while i'm away so he got the housing off and noticed a crack on the inside, says its bad... i have not seen it yet, i will this weekend.
anyone advise where a different housing can be found? i'm thinking junkyard but i have bad experiences with that.
