Did the 1967 CJ5 Dauntless V6 come with a radiator fan shroud> If so where can I get one? Is it really needed?

    Any help greatly appreciated.

    Hens' teeth

Covered here quite a bit previously. They're fiberglass and break easily. There's pics of some in the gallery (which should be working now ;) ) in the Pic Bank, I think the V6 engine pics show MOP's '68 with his stock shroud.

It probably helps quite a bit. Might do some fabbing?

We have had our 68 cj5 in our family since it was new. I dont know if mine is a factory shroud or not. It looks like it could be easly a home made one. Im shure you could easly make one yourself out of heavy gauge sheet metal or have one made by a sheet mrtal fabricator. A lot of heating and air installers have the equipment to do this.

Those won't fit. We've discussed that before too.

They probably fit a '71 with the wide radiator but not the majority of V6 CJ-5s.

But I do agree, based on our combined experiences on the same day that when it gets hot a shroud might be useful.

Just be aware, as Sparky stated, those won't fit a stock '67 CJ...Too wide.

If you wanted to make duplicates of an existing shroud, I think it would not be hard. Use the existing shroud to make a fiberglass negative. You could put the shroud face down on a smooth surface and build up around the outside with plywood or foam blocks. Then use the negative to make copies of the original out of fiberglass. Even a broken shroud would serve as a model.

The original shrouds are make of some kind of weak fiber-reinforced material - I presume they are made this way so that they will break up if the fan hits them, ratehr than fgo through the radiator. Or maybe it's just cheaper to make them that way. Anyway, I think it would not take a lot of skill or expensive materials to fab a new one.
