Does anyone have an Idea of price range and how many were made of the 1966 U.S.D.A. Ag JEEPs? The one I have is a 1966 CJ-5. It has a F-head 134 engine (not the original) in parts that needs to be rebuilt. The drivetrain apears to be original and in fair condition. Has rust on driver & passenger side on flat area in front of doors. The rear floor is rusted out. Front left fender is torn in front. It has a home made 1/2 cab welded on. The seats look original and are made to slide forward and backward. Windshield is broken. Leaf springs and frame look good. Has a warranty sticker on dash from Kaiser to Government. Below that is a data plate. It says for official use only U.S.D.A. Plant and Animal division on the drivers side in front of the door. Also has a pto on the rear.

    Thank you for your help,
    jkc

How many were made? It's just a CJ-5 that was bought by the USDA. Those records might exist somewhere, but not sure where one would find them.

Value would be the same as any other early CJ-5 in the same condition, being a USDA Jeep adds interest but not value IMO. PTO would add some value though, home-made 1/2 cab not so much. Basically everything in the "How much is my Jeep worth" post applies here. Pictures as always along with location will go a long way in helping us set a price.

Take a look at Eddie Turner's, he's done a nice job with his: http://www.earlycj5.com/featured/etu/

Yea my 66 CJ6 was some kind of Forest Service or AGGIE Jeep. It was painted that Forest Service Green, with a gray windshield frame---the tail gate has a giant decal with fishing regulations and a fish measuring scale. Maybe a Game Warden's Jeep or something. When I first cleaned it between the gas tanks and tub were a bunch of 1970 game licenses and fishing permits--- so I figured it was a Fish and Game Department Jeep. On the Side in Big letters was written by hand brushed paint "The Ugly" in yellow letters. The Jeep was very beat up-- and the tub was held on the frame with all-thread shakles---- it was soo muddy that I scrapped off two 50 gallon barrels of dirt, straw, dryed grass-- and dryed animal dung off of the belly of the tub and wheel wells.---- That is the government for you.
