Iv always wonderd if my engine was original in my 46 2a maby you guys can decode and find out for me? It was rebuilt probrobly in the 70s because when i tore it apart it was boored .02 over and i had it boored again to .04 over. The numbers on the head are GPW 6050 2C and theres an f script. The block numbers down on the passenger side by the oil pan read 641087-L-W-12-A-N1-CR-N2. So if it is the original its a leftover from the military ones. Thanks alot :)- Bryan

Not a leftover, nor a Willys, chances are, it's a GPW swap in. My 47 has an MB engine, S/N MBXXXXX
My guess is the original flat head was seized or broken or cracked long ago, and at a government auction or surplus catalog, someone got this MB engine for cheap and bolted it to the CJ bell/ running engine.
Quite possible what happened to yours but can't be positive.
Maybe check the 2A forum, they like the history challenge.

"JEEP2003" Sounds like you have the right Willys block, at least the 641087 is right. It is a cj-2A engine. But somebody just swapped in a WWII Ford GPW head. Probably because the sparkplug holes had a problem. You could probably trade somebody looking for a gpw head even for your head.

That makes sence. Im not intrested in making it original as you can see my my avatar. And iv had it reconditioned and everything so its staying where its at. Thanks for the offer though

Now an off topic question. Anybody know if selling firewall serial # plates is illegal on ebay? Do i have to list it as a data plate? Thanks again :)
