shackle thickness

    for the guys that have homemade shackles,how thick is the plate you are using? what size would you suggest? bob

    If you want them tough make them from 4140 anywhere from 5/16" to 3/8" thick.

    I'm running 3/8" plate on all 4 and it is doing great.

    Good choice. 1/4" bends too easily.

    used 1"x3/8" bar for mine. just remember to use longer grade 8 bolts with lock nuts.
