willysCJ2A: Welcome from Riverside, too bad the electric fuel pump can't solve your problem....that would be too easy...the part number not available is the drive gear for the dist. Have to keep your eyes open to find one. We'll do the same for you.
Jim: Just to answer your question....Yes the 225 is seperate parts and not part of the cam. Good Luck!!Glenn

the other problem is I don't think you can just go without it; you need both for proper spacing at the front of the cam

I'm pretty sure that all of the dist. drive gears are the same. I've gone from odd fire to even fire & 225 to 231 & back too many times to count. I've gone from even fire HEI to odd fire HEI by changing the cap & a couple of parts in the dist. & back again as needed. In all these cases I've kept the same distributor, just built it for either even or odd fire, depending on which block I was able to get cheap. (I seem to "dunk" a lot of motors & ruin the bearings  & crank) As far as the cam eccentric, yes, the later ones are part of the camshaft, only the early ones are separate. Double check exactly what you need & if you can stand used stuff with some scuff marks & minor wear I think I can help you. BTW, when you put that gear on the dist. you're supposed to have a certain amount of endplay, check the manual. I always have too much & need to shim it. I've stacked shims from other distributors but I don't think I have any extra's of those.

I have two used gears in the boxes that new ones came in. The AMC box is numbered 1# 1950570 & the GM box is 1# 1892082. I have another GM box with a stickytape label with the AMC number on it & the AMC number also printed on the GM box. Go figure. I don't have a number for the eccentric, but I do have one for cheap. Do you have the oil slinger & cam bolt? What about the chain tensioner & rubbing block? Those seem to be hard to find. Depending on the year you may need the spring & plastic button that goes the end of the cam. I think I gave up on that part & run without it. Where are you looking for parts? I usually get this type of stuff from a GM dealer or NAPA. I stay away from discount sources for internal stuff, it's not worth the risk, but so far I haven't had much trouble finding most of this stuff.

No, you'll still need the fuelpump eccentric, or somthing just as thick, to locate the dist. drive gear properly. Also, if you use some type of spacer it will have to have a keyway cut into it because the dist. gear & the FP eccentric share the key.
