I just purchased a mean-green starter for a 225 odd fire and it wont bolt up correctly. I think they have sent me the wrong adapter block. Do you have one or dose any one you know use one? I am not shure now that it was money well spent.

I was wondering who was going to buy one. I don't have any info but I'm curious why you went that route?

The mechanic at work is a fon of gear reduction starters. I thought it be stronger for in gear starts and more dependable.

I purchased the starter from mean-green so I thought I would'nt have any problems with the wright parts. I After fighting with the starter trying to get it to bolt up corectly I took the adapter block off of the starter and placed it on the engin and bell housing to see were it needed to be to line up. It needed to be about 3/4" lower. Called mean-green nice people so far. They said it is possible they sent me the adapter block and are sending me a new one. I sure hope its wright.

I will let every one now how it works out for me in the end. I have to agree with you about the stock starter. The original one never gave me any trouble. It was definatly on its last leg though when I took it off of the the engin. I dont know how many miles were on it, probably a lot.
