Does anyone have a photo of how the fuel line is suppose to be routed from the pump up to the carb on a 59 CJ5? Also, what type of material is used? Mine had what appears to be a homemade setup of copper tubing. I would think the original lines were steel.

The tubing was routed pretty close to the exhaust maniford which was causing me vapor lock problems. I relocated it using copper, but would like to get it close to original.

Was there a fuel filter in the system? Mine was aftermarket and located between the pump and the carb, not a great location for rubber fuel hose. I relocated it down near the fuel tank.

Any help/advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

In a nutshell the line comes out of the bottom of the tank, runs along the frame to the front by the fuel pump. Then run a piece of rubber hose from it to the fuel pump. Manual doesn't show a fuel filter other than the original fuel pump having a screen in it. I put filters in between the pump and carb on my JEEPS.

After rereading I realized what you're asking. From the pump the line runs across the front of the block on the flat part then up and back to the carb. Sorry I don't have a picture or a better description.

Not a pic taken with the fuel line routing in mind but may help, I got a 65 F head. If you need a better pic I could take one tommorow after work,it's raining right now.

    :iagree:

If you still have the vacume line from the intake to the lower part of the fuel pump for the vacume wipers the fuel line follows the same route, the lines are actually clipped togeather.

Edit:oops: The vacume line runs to the "PCV" fitting on the side valve cover, not to the fuel pump. Theres supposed to be a T fitting in the line where it comes around the corner that the vacume section of the fuel pump connects to.

If not the stock lines are steel with pretty much nice tight 90 degree bends.

Here is the main one you need of the fuel pump, for some reason it wouldn't let me attach it the first time.
