If you do decide to use it I wouldn't mount too big of a tire since it looks like it mounts with bolts through the body. Other than that if you could come up with something for it to latch to I dont see why it wouldnt work.

Carb is new, It also came with a new fuel pump. I have a buddy that deals in M38A1 stuff and he ran across some Civilian stuff so he gave it to me for helping him out. Not sure on the shirt, maybe clean parts with it...lol

Could that be what it is off of? i am picking up this stuff next weekend. I had planned on mounting a solid plate on the inside of the body to renforce the body panel. I plan on mounting a 32-33" tire. any other thoughts? I was also looking at mounting those gerry can mounts to it as well. maybe a highlift? is that going to be too much you thing? even with a 3/8" plate running behind the bolts?

Shirt looks to be a late-model wool-poly blend GI 5-button sweater. Just the ticket for Jeep rides on a crisp fall afternoon. ;)

Wish I still had mine, but it got lost many moves ago...

If you're running a 3/8 plate behind the body, you'll have enough support. Keep in mind that a 33" tire is bulky and heavy. Looking at the carrier, I'm not sure that I'd mount cans to it as well. Best thing to do is mount it to the JEEP and throw a tire on it. Go from there. :)

If you have access to a salvage yard, look at the spare tire mount on a Suzuki Samari or any of the little jap suv's, the one from the Samuri has a lip on the top that bolts to the rolled lip on the top of your tailgate, I took 1" bar stock and ran it through the rolled portion of the top of the tail gate on my jeep and drilled and tapped the gate to match the Samuri hole spacing , the Samuri mount has two more holes that mount directly to your tail gate, with the bar stock in your original tail gate and latches bolted shut, you can hang four fat girls each holding 38 inch spares and not stress your original tail gate......02..........Vic

I can get some pics later in the week, I would use the bar stock no matter which way you go, just pound it through the existing hole in your tailgate and cut it off with a sawzall, my tailgate was bowed real bad from a tree and while I was getting it straight I stumbled on the idea, after you do it, you can imagine what it would take to bend it and bolt the latches shut and its hell for sturdy, if you dont bolt it shut its still super ridged, .........Vic
