I've removed the entire drive train from my 66CJ5, 225 V6. I am now reinstalling the entire drive train (axles, trans/TC, motor). Everything seemed to going back in OK until the final step - reinstall drive shafts. The rear drive shaft (haven't checked front yet) is not parrallel to the frame rails. I put a square on the emergency brake drum and the center of the rear axle yoke and the center of the TC yoke do not line up. They are 1/4" - 1/2" off centre. Is this offset normal? Is it something I need to correct? What will happen if I don't correct the offset? Every thing else seems OK. I hope I don't have to move the entire motor, Trans, Tc assembly over 1/2"

None of the jeeps I have owned that were stock were perfectly parallel either. As long as it isn't too much, you'll be alright

hell the entire driveline sits at an angle to the frame.. look at the motor mounts real close, the whoel engine/tranny sits to the drivers side by over an inch.

Sept. '05 issue of Jp, page 80. Pic from above of my '71 CJ-5 w/out body that shows the horizontal driveshaft angle. Factory had to angle the drivetrain for front driveshaft clearance around starter and oil pan.
