What's everyone using for a 225 oil filter? I had been using a Wix 51258 but I've read complaints that the anti-drainback valve on them doesn't work well. I think I'm having that issue with their 51050 on my F134; when I do an oil change on that it's empty. I do find the size of the 51258 to work well with my lower radiator hose so I'm trying to find one that same size.

Local Napa, only filter I use. Never had the filter dry when changing the oil. Clears the factory radiator bottom hose.

NAPA Gold is just a private labelled Wix filter, in the vast majority of cases.

Hmmm that’s about 3/4” shorter than a std filter
Absolute best you can get is Hastings LF222
Baldwin B39 is nearly identical to Hastings.

My rebuilt Dauntless has a TA Performance timing cover, which is a bit deeper than the stock covers, and requires the use of a slightly shorter / smaller oil filter in order to clear the lower radiator hose.

I've been using the Wix 51042XP filters, which are designed for synthetic oil, for many years with no issues whatsoever. Though there may be some, I haven't seen any negative reviews on these particular filters. They're frequently used on the GM 5.3L V8 engines. I understand the Wix 51042 is the same size, but is designed for natural oil.

If you're using one of these smaller-sized filters, which of course have less internal volume than the larger-size filters, remember to put in a bit less than the normal 5 quarts when you're changing the oil & filter. About 4-1/2 to 4-2/3 quarts is the right amount for the dipstick to read full.

    Wix 51522
Smaller diameter so it clears the lower hose.

I am seeing a bunch of different filters being thrown out here but no talk of whether or not they have anti-drain back valves. Do they work and do they
help with the 225? I ask because my oil pressure is slow to build up. Good pressure once running though it takes more time than I would personally like.

Ok. I can see the valve in the rock auto pictures. Have to try one and see how it does.

I'm not sure which filter John is referring to above, but here are the specs for the Wix 51042xp indicating that it has an anti-drainback valve.

The 51522 that I referenced above also has the anti drainback valve.

I picked the Wix 51049 filters as that what Rock Auto was showing. My speed reading did not see the inclusion of the anti-drainback valves
on some of these posted filters. That is cleared up. Does the valve help in retaining the oil?

I've been using the AC Delco PF24 for years.

    What is your source?
I haven't been able to find them for 5+ years now.

We have a local auto parts store that is an AC Delco dealer and that’s where I’ve gotten them for years. Now, I didn’t know they were discontinued. I’ve been using up a stash that I’ve had.

Put a Baldwin B-39 filter in today. It appears that the oil pressure comes up much faster with an anti-drainback valve. I will check in the A.M. to see how
    it does after sitting overnight.
