I am reassembling my front end. I ordered a set steering knuckle seals and are three pieces. As per my TM and Willys FSM this is a replacement for the two piece seal. I have a question I have found a set of two piece seals which is better.

Did you get this job done?
I noticed yesterday that one of the knuckles on my Free Jeep is weeping. Looking for more info on this repair.

I bought the kit from Waulk's a couple weeks ago. The seal has one "split" in it which goes up. The felt seal needs to be cut in one spot (up, slightly offset from the seal split) to assemble. Came with new cover plates. No leaks

The felt does not have to be cut. You can work it over the top, or bottom, of the knuckle, wiggling it into place. This has to be done prior to axle shaft installation, though. ;)

Yes, I just did seals without taking the knuckle apart so I had to. Sorry to confuse.

Also its wise to smooth out the ball end while you are in there. So the seal has a nice surface instead of pitted rustyness. And make sure the rubber seal stays well seated while covering it with the felt and all

I just ran the bolts in slowly around the circle with a ton of grease and a very short grip on the ratchet so I could tell is something was binding.
