That's what I (re)did on the Buick 350 Jeep. You can see the tanks just clearing the headlight buckets:

    BUT....

The factory lower tank is right behind the crossframe. You really can't move the bottom of the radiator forward more than 1/4" or so without hacking the crossframe.

On mine, I sectioned the crossframe and switched to a cross flow radiator. This let me keep the crossframe in the stock location but get as big of a core as I could:

If I did it again, I would cut out the factory crossframe, build a new one further forward and switch to an intermediate grill that already has the radiator tight to the headlight buckets:

I really wanted to keep the original grill with it's original paint.

I’m leaving for Colorado in a week and I got a couple things to do before then- like lots. Cutting the Jeep frame wasn’t on my list!!

First drive since tear down. My son is quite happy. Looks like I've got some leaks to track down. I feel like the engine is leaking from everywhere, but she runs likea top.

My 70 was running like crap. Started looking into it and found my distributor hold down wasn’t keeping the distributor where it needed to be. I reset the timing, and replaced a spark plug wire that was bad. Now she’s running great. Ran down the road at 70 mph with no issues. Now I need to check all fluids and get it ready for Deer Valley.

Electric fan project did take most of the day yesterday. We took 2” out of the crossmember and 2” out of the radiator shroud/mount. Should have taken less from the shroud as there was a bit of interference between them when done.

The tan paint I used is not close but looks OK.

Of course I nicked a brake line with the cut off wheel and had to put in a new section.

I got everything back together before midnight and tested the system by running the jeep in the garage. The fans did not come on at all.

This was my first time setting up a relay and now I know you can set up the trigger either as a positive or wire it backwards and the trigger is a ground. Holley Sniper fan control is a ground switch I discovered in my sleepless night!!

Update - Sniper is indeed a ground switch to the relay. I ran the Jeep for 15-20 minutes at idle and it never got above 175* in the garage. I'm calling that job done. I jumped in to take the Jeep to work but realized I needed to bleed that brake line before I start driving it again.

I got under mine to grease it and check all the fluids before the Leadville trip. Of course the trans was low and of course I couldn't find my gear oil pump

Today I replaced the master cylinder on the '56 - which I installed in 2006. With the new shoes and cylinders in the front end, and newly cleaned drums, those 9" brakes work scary good. Inspected the rear drums and all is well back there.

6F9724CA-5C0B-4DE6-B38F-09700C1484BA.jpeg My brake pedal was very wobbly, so i did a fix similar to what they used to do at dealerships. Basically a long threaded rod, some thick 1” washers and a repurposed cupped suspension bushing washer on one end. It made a huge difference.

i was originally going to buy a new brake pedal arm, but the current arm on my Jeep was reshaped by the PO due to some interference issues with the clutch fork. since I had the parts lying around, I figured I would try this fix before buying and modifying a new arm.

I finally got my tail lights fixed! (Replaced one, the other is about to hit a rock and be replaced)
The 7way trailer plug wasn't wired right and I fixed that. ( rt turn and running lights were switched)
Also got the warning device working, Beep Beep!

Bled the brakes and went for a test drive. The electric fan worked perfectly. Only hit 180* once on the highway for the high speed fan to kick on. It idled and putted around at about 175*. When I got home I left the key on and the fan ran a bit. The temp did shoot up above 180* then and the high speed fan again kicked on for a few minutes. Then I cut it all off and was able to easily work under the hood as the fan cooled off the engine compartment as well. Gave just a hair of idle speed and stretched out my throttle return spring to give a little softer pedal. Just about ready to load up for the trip west.

Tonite while crawling around under the JEEP I found a crack in the frame. Drilled and welded that. Also found the power steering fan belt was starting to wear, replaced that and shimmed the power steering pump to align it properly. Still need to check nuts and bolts and check fluids.

I doubt you will see any difference with his kit, I installed it in my MC2100 and found no difference in the end. In the rocks on the Rubicon my jeep ran good before, ran the same after installing his parts. I actually felt like the carb picked up a stumble after the install, almost a slight hesitation or fuel starvation feeling, that I attributed to the carb not breathing as well due to one of the vents being capped off.
Whatever you do, don't question him on his parts, fitment or if they work..... He can't handle even friendly criticism.....

Tonight’s update… checked and top off all fluids and greased all fittings. Tightened i all nuts and bolts under the JEEP. Made sure I had extra fluids packed. I really haven’t driven the JEEP much since I had my knee done last September, kinda been ignoring it except adding the rear disc brakes, (still don’t have the e-brake working). It’s running and driving/stopping well.

Yesterday I put the front driveshaft into the CJ2 and sewed up a quick windshield frame hold down and some chain covers for the tailgate using one of my old uniforms like I did with the CJ5. I also finally swapped the front driver unit hub on the XJ since it had a little play in it. I'll see tomorrow if that cures the bit of howling I've had with it at speed.

The boy wouldn't stop bugging me for a "ride in the CJ2" so I took the kids down to see how the bridge repair was going on our road that's now requiring us to add 5 mins to any trip we take to town, then we went down to the dirt road bridge, the creek there is bone dry, then we swung by the "Money Cemetery" and the kids went around looking at headstones.

Today was basically patching up the bumper, so I don't have to spend money on a new one. I cut out the junk the old owners welded to the front and roughed in two patches and painted it. I'll put it on tomorrow maybe, I think I may have to go get some hardware to mount it up.

I changed out the leaky rear pinion seal in the Commando, I think it was probably original from 1970 and it did NOT want to come out!

Disassembled a 225 V6 motor today and the lowered end appeared to be original. Should make a great motor to rebuild. Here are a few pics of the block. Stock pistons?

Hello all. It’s as finished as its going to get!!
“Lil Shaky”. 1960 bucket of bolts that I took down to the ground. This would have been anyone else’s donor vehicle but it’s all I had to work with. It’s now our daily driver to the coffee shop and doubles as a mobile ham radio rig. We constantly referred to the ECJ-5 forums to get it done. Thanks to all you out there.
