Electric Steering Assist

    Using electric steering assist is a question that comes up every now & then, I know it's been done but here's a couple of examples from the CJ2A page-




    And since I know most of you can't read-



    As I mentioned in my Corvette steering Magnum Opus this is neat & relatively cheap but it
    still puts a load on the the steering box & bellcrank.

    Still an option in the box of tricks though. :)

    I saw this too. I still prefer the hydro assist. Removes the load from the steering box.

    I installed Electric Steering on my 57 Willys PU. It works good, but at idle the alternator can't supply enough juice to it to maintain boost.

    Ayuh,.... Thank you Howard, yer timin' is impeccable,..... I really want P/S in my '63 CJ 5, 'n have decided to go electric, rather than the Saginaw hyd conversion,...

    While the hyd. P/S, 'n brakes is temping, as I have the bits available, The electric is the way I decided to go,....
    I've got the tight-steer bit comin' for the steerin' box, 'n a rebuild kit for the draglink,...
    Other than that, my original steerin' is in very good shape,.....

    If the alternator isn't up to the task, I'll up-grade it, 'n the battery,....
    I think they'll compliment the V-6/ auto trans nicely,.....

    Very cool I saw that initially on a Gone-Gpn video on Youtube. It's a pretty smart use of salvage parts for what looks to be an easy to implement mod.

    I'm thinking my '65 CJ6 (F134) needs a manual Saginaw box with electric boost.
