You have cotter pins and castle nuts… did you do something else to retain those?

The inserts are welded in. I preheat the knuckle arm before welding. I’ll snag a pic in the AM.

The insert does have the flange for welding. This makes the bolt on the TRE to short for the standard castle nuts. Goferit supplies a special locking nut. I was definitely nervous but Mine has worked fine so far. I did torque it extra and used permanent LocTight.

    Update

re: steering… TRE flip kit arrived, but I had already removed the Spring clamp…. Might be a pre wheeling trip upgrade later this summer…

re: squeaking noise…. Disconnected the Speedo cable and sure as anything, no noise!! Ordered a new unit

re: fuel tank…. Been running an external pump for a while since I smushed my tank and internal pump setup…. Planning a do over on the tank with a new skid plate, internal pump and sending unit.

about time for and under car go over as well

Much smaller caliber will penetrate the ARB cover. lol. I got one back for warranty with a casting flaw once when I worked at ARB. We tested all different sizes of caliber on it one weekend from .22 to 50 cal. Looked like swiss chees when we were done. 22 didn't go through, but everything else pretty much did. Unfortunately I don't have the photos anymore.

But they are damn tough. Only one I've seen really fail from contact was a 60 cover off an Ultra 4 car that hit a rock at speed right in the middle of the cover. Cracked it and caused a leak, but didn't take him out of KOH.

10 years since I started this build thread and about 7 years of hard driving…

doing some serious service on this rig…. Just started today tearing the transmission out…

needs another reseal.. started getting some very substantial leaks this winter in storage from the adapter plate and Tcase pan and front bearing retainer I assume….

Need new poly suspension bushings all around

    New driver and passenger seats

    Brakes?

Engine bay cleanup and sealing (maybe)

    Radio swap

maybe more… stay tuned. Should be fun :banghead:
