    Hand throttle finished up.

Hole drilled in firewall below the VIN tag:

Plug popped out of factory hole in dash. Hole enlarged one size with the step drill:

    Threading it through:

    It was a bit long:

Wrapped it with tape where I wanted to cut it and made sure to pull the core out:

The cutoff wheel did a good job:

Heat shrink added oever the cut end for good measure:

Installed with a grommet in the firewall, a P-clip to the heater housing and a nice large radius:

What it looks like inside. I oriented the handle so it's vertica when lockedl. Rotate it to the right and it moves in and out freely so you can hand drive the Jeep with it. Rotate it to the left and it locks in place where it's at for a fixed throttle position while offroading, using the winch, or whatever.:

Back together for now. I've got some concentric throttle return springs coming and I'll make a nicer anchor bracket for them when they show up:

Took it up and down the driveway for testing. The hand throttle seems to work well. I think I'll like it.

Correct. It works slick! Turn to increase or decrease slowly or push the button for faster increase or decrease. If bouncing around in the rocks, much more user friendly. IMO.

I think I prefer the kit from Summit. I mounted mine high on the shifter where I can adjust it without ever looking or even taking my hand off the shifter. For a wheeling Jeep it seems more convenient than something on the dash.
Not knocking your setup as you always do great work and its sure to work well, just want folks who read this to know about the options.

Yeah, I thought about those but I'm the other way, I didn't want it on the shifter.

Fireball's is fancy, very cool. Hadn't seen a thumb one before. I went this route and it feels good to me since it has a big sweep, you can make very fine throttle changes easily and not likely to go crazy and rev the rods out the bottom.

I had all of five minutes to work on the Jeep tonight but I did get something done.

These weird yellowed windshield plugs have been on the Jeep since I got it:

I popped them off and replaced them with some black plgs from Barney's Jeep Parts. They are flush instead of inset like the originals but they look a lot better than the yellow ones:

Finally got my hands on an assortment of double throttle return springs so I could fix this functional mess:

I decided to weld a tab to the bracket I attached the hand throttle to. Drawing a pleasing shape:

Making it so with the good old angle grinder:

    Welded to the bracket:

Painted and installed. With the previous travesty gone I can sleep at night again:

Maybe. But if like me, it is one thing to make a one-off part for your own project and something entirely different making those for other people. You need Ryan's new gig to make that work.

Agreed. The quality of my work is fine, but I would feel bad charging people money for it.

Do you have a manual choke on your carb? Can you show a close-up of the choke side of the carb?

On the Buick 350 with the Edelbrock carb or a Dauntless with a 2G?

Here's the Edelbrock on the 350. It's a 1405 600CFM that came with a manual choke from Edelbrock. There is a cable bracket that goes under one of the top cover screws and an arm that screws to the end of the choke pivot rod:

If you have an electric choke Edelbrock it looks like all you would need is the bracket: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-1494

For a Dauntless, the choke cable hooks to the driver side of the carb like so:

Later 231s all had automatic chokes and the look something like this with more or less dash pots and electric or thermal chokes:

Id be wary of those Mr. Gasket fuel pressure regulators if i were you. every one ive had has failed spectacularly in a fountain of fuel all over the engine bay.
