When I disassembled my Dana 44 these small parts fell out. The power lock has a two piece cross shaft with a hole through center - I'm thinking they go there and space the axles? Anyone have this?

You have 19 spline taped axles? These would be the center spacers that keep the outboard end axle bearings properly seated in the tube bearing cones. Should be 1.5" dead on one side to the other.

Yep I knew what it was even before I saw the pic.
That’s a “center blok” spacer and is only used with tapered type axle shafts so you can adjust the wheel bearings.
Replace the spring pin between the 2 halves.
The spring pins breaks fairly often but the two halves always stay in place in till you remove the axle shafts…

Thank you old time!!! Appreciated! Now I just need to figure out how to set the wheel bearing depth. I do have a couple of spacers on each side but i don't know if they are correct. Do you know where I can find some manual or something for this process? I was able to get a clutch rebuild pack from West Coast differentials in Rancho Cordova. Thanks again!!

Thanks Howard!! I do have 19 spline tapered axles. I dont quite understand the 1.5" reference. Is that space between axle ends? Thanks

Yes, the spacers should keep the axle ends 1.5" apart. Do you have the factory service manual? It explains the bearing setup perfectly.

What Oldtime and Howard said. These are also sometimes referred to as thrust buttons and the spring clip is also referred to as a roll pin. Available at any parts house. Get a fsm/tsm (Factory Service Manual/Technical Service Manual). Worth it’s weight in gold.

Wow! this factory service manual is hard to find! No youtube videos on it either. I'll have to make one once I figure it out. Cheers!!

Search metalshaper on YouTube he has a video on the set up for “end play” in the tapered axle
