So, I did this. I thought it would be a good idea to incorporate a fuel cut off into the pick up of the new poly tank. I also wanted to eliminate the hose-barb pick up that was supplied with the tank. It fits, but there’s no way to get a hand under the seat and turn it!

Wish I'd done this years ago... I tightened the Stay Cable on my '56. The clutch shudder went away!

Also, new brake shoes and wheel cylinders up front. (The original drums still look like new.) Serviced the hub bearings, original "automatic" lock-outs, and replaced the hub seals. One side had filled with knuckle lube.

Only took a day, cost under $150, and should be Good to Go for many more years.

    Feels really good.

Rebuilt the T18 shifter. Man was that thing sloppy. Shifts nice and positive now. Bend the cane tomorrow and put it all back together.

I have decided to start something else, since I am waiting for a set9 bearing for the AMC rear axle. I cleaned and set the garage up for work on the Jeep. As I was backing the Jeep in, I noticed the turn signals aren't working. :censored: So add another item to the list, ....... But first, the exhaust. I will drop the skid plate and check and weld the system. :coffee:

Not all today of course but, after work each day.
Tuesday I changed the thermostat in the tan cj5 from 195* to 180*, and it certainly runs cooler.
Thursday I changed the oil in the green 3B.
Today I changed the Lt rear wheel bearing in the blue cj6. It had started making noise.

And now I see why it was noisy. Cage fell off when I pulled it out.

I'll be adding about 175 #'s of My Locksmith tools & supplies to ' Rosie ' I thought that these Gabriels would help. Came in the close to color, too.

Family is gone this week so I've been able to turn wrenches w/out worrying about neglecting family time. I had plans on installing some parts I had coming in from Kaiser Willys but thanks to fedex it's delayed.....so thanks for that, fedex.
Earlier today I knocked out a few to-do things I had pending while waiting for my package to arrive. I started by blowing out the PCV valve. I suspected it was clogged and oh yea...it was clogged with junk and was not functioning properly. I replaced the temp sending unit and still didn't have any reading. So I tested the gauge and it tested bad. When I get back from family vacation I'll have to order a new gauge (KW ships so slowly I don't think it'll make it here before I leave town to join the family).

This evening I took the jeep for a longer drive at slightly higher speeds. It performed great but I think it's still running rich (a carb rebuild kit is one of the items coming in from KW). I did some tinkering with the adjustments and I think some of the diaphragms are leaking fuel into the carb....with the idle adjustment screw turn all the way lean it doesn't even stumble or change idle. New parts should help with that issue.

I got back to the shop and tried to see where my leaks were coming from....front/back of trans, and timing cover. Tomorrow I'm going to pull it out into the street and pressure wash out a lot of trash/dirt/oily mud that has built up between the drivetrain and skid plates. Hopefully I'll be able to see my leaks better (not that I have plans to fix them at the moment).

I opened the top of the trans to take a look a the fluid level, fluid quality, and check out my gears. The gears all look great. the fluid was a little chocolate milkshake-y with metal flakes. So I drained the fluid and refilled with new.
Tomorrow maybe my package will arrive and I can rebuild the carb, replace my leaky exhaust gasket, and replace the dead headlight.

Installed new Rancho RS 9000's in the Front . Set them at 7 mostly 'cuz I just installed coilovers in the Rear & I've outfitted Her with ~ 180 #'s of my Locksmith Tools & gear.
Entered the Hi-way with nary any roll & took her right up to 70........ Man, what a difference. I am beyond pleased.

Can you tell any difference in ride quality? on the #7 setting compared to say the #2 setting. I Was thinking about some of those for the jeep but it rides really well like it is and did not want to stiffen the ride in order to reduce body roll in curves. May need to install sway bars also.

Absolutely. I have not experimented with the settings yet, but I know that this is the best thing about these guy's. I may install a Sway bar , to the Front.......... But right now, It's the TiT Wiggle !
Oh Yeah , the Bonus was that I got these on a Ware house closeout......for $16 a pc.

Fabbed up some battery hold downs for 51R AGM batteries in the 64 M38A1.
TiG'd up the pin holes in the 11 in backing plates for the 64 CJ5 and put them in the Evaporust / Metal Rescue and getting ready to drill holes to mount the backing plates.
Fabbed up battery brackets for 64 M38A1.jpg Soaking Backing plates in Metal rescue pin holes TIG'd up.jpg Modifying 11 in backing plates for 64 CJ5.jpg Thanks Old Pappy for the backing plates.
Now to order the drums and hardware.

Been retired one month and getting the Jeeps in shape.
Now to tackle the bad distributor on the 53 M38A1.
    Hoping to have a 64 M38A1 and a 64 CJ5 to take to shows.
